Standard packaging

Valuable or precious cargo can provide optimum protection against

  • Wet
  • High humidity
  • Formation of condensation due to strong temperature fluctuations
  • Corrosion
  • Dust and other impurities
  • Damage that may occur during handling and transport

It is often the case that climatic conditions are underestimated during prolonged transport in the global business.

Here, the specialists of the S-E-S offer competent assistance in the selection of the right packaging and preservation method. Let us advise you. The optimal solution is certainly quickly found so that your cargo is completely protected.

Production of packaging

Our company not only packs all cargo safely. We are also a producer of tailor-made transport boxes. All necessary materials and aids are in stock in sufficient quantities. Wood and panels of any size are stored properly in an air-conditioned, dry hall and the stocks are always supplemented in time, so that material bottlenecks can never occur.

We cooperate with packaging companies on site and throughout Germany and produce cargo crates of any size and for any kind of cargo, whether they are dangerous goods, heavy-duty machines, cars, aircraft or even sensitive equipment.

Land, air and sea packaging

The S-E-S packs your cargo in its logistics centre or at your site. The air cargo security area as a “regulated agent” according to the Federal Aviation Administration (LBA) was set up in the S-E-S logistics centre.

You decide whether the packaging services are provided at your premises, at suppliers or at the S-E-S. All requirements for land, air or sea shipping are met. Storage is also possible.

Crane and forklift capacities

  • up to 32 tons by means of external and hall cranes
  • up to 16 tons of fork-stable capacities
  • Mobile cranes are used if required
  • Extensions on request

Our mobile packaging teams can arrive with complete, technical equipment and prefabricated packaging components on request and pack where you wish. As a result, our customers optimize their flexibility and reduce their own capital commitment for the acquisition and maintenance costs of transport and forklift subsidies.

Securing air cargo packaging according to the Aviation Safety Act

We are a “regulated agent” and are therefore able to pack and handle your air cargoes in accordance with relevant laws. This makes your supply chain safe and air freight may be feasible in the first place. Due to our status as a “regulated agent” we are able to turn your air freight shipment directly into “SPX” or to organize the “sniffing” at the Rhein Main airport for you, which saves time and costs – especially for shipments that are too big for the conventional X-ray (X-Ray).

This flexibility offers our customers the following advantages:

  • Relieving your production and storage space by relocating to our logistics center
  • Free storage up to 6 weeks after packaging by us
  • No acquisition and operating costs for heavy lifting equipment, crane and/or forklift technology
  • Execution of storage, picking and packaging activities

We will be happy to take a look at your cargo on site and make you an offer.

The S-E-S uses several possibilities to protect your valuable goods from corrosion on the transport and also during storage. Different processes are used, which depend on the material quality of the goods, the means of transport, the storage period and the storage location.

Desiccant method

The cargo to be packed is welded into a water vapor-tight barrier layer with the addition of desiccant (quantity according to DIN 55473). Then the air in the shell is extracted. The humidity of the remaining air in the interior of the packaging is then reduced by the desiccant and produces a uniform dehydration over the specified period of time, depending on the amount of the agent used.

As barrier layer material is used:

  • Polyethylene film, thickness of 200 microns for a delivery and storage time of up to 12 months
  • Aluminium composite film for a longer delivery and storage time as well as for shipping to areas with extreme sub-zero temperatures or for storage in the open air

When loading cargo, it makes sense to adapt the protective foils to the storage conditions. This allows color changes (e.g. due to UV radiation) to be avoided.

VCI Method

VCI active ingredients are corrosion protection molecules that exhibit a noticeable vapour pressure even at low temperatures and thus envelop the cargo to be protected with a seamless and sustainable protective gas.

VCI can be applied to the surfaces to be protected in the form of powder, spray, oil, paper or foil or hammered with you. This process does not remove the corrosive media, but neutralizes them by a chemical reaction. Care must be taken to ensure that the metal surfaces are absolutely grease-free and that the outer atmosphere is blocked off by a barrier layer cover in which the saturation vapour pressure of the VCI agent can be maintained.

Protective layer method

Blank parts of the cargo to be packed can be sprayed or pinned immediately after cleaning and drying with a uniform protective layer of an appropriate anti-corrosion agent.

Dust and splash protection

Blank parts of the cargo to be packed can be sprayed or pinned immediately after cleaning and drying with a uniform protective layer of an appropriate anti-corrosion agent.

Shrinking into foils

Shrink films not only package your materials, but also provide excellent protection.

The shrinkage process wraps your materials with special foils. In advance, the goods to be packed are placed on transport floors, pallets or other substructures and then thermally shrunk with the corresponding shrink film.

The most common shrink films are:

PVC Shrink Film Transparent Yellow

  • Excor VCI 150microns
  • Corrosion protection by molecular technology
  • Rolls with 6m width and 50m length

LPD shrink films in white or cream

Available thicknesses 200 / 250 / 300 / 350 / 400 microns

  • Rollers up to 8 meters wide and 25 meters long
  • Fire retardant (according to DIN 4102-B1)
  • UV protection designed for at least 12 months

The LPD shrink film is versatile:

  • General renovations
  • Transports
  • Industrial
  • Maritime Applications
  • Exhibition
  • Asbestos removal

Hazardous goods

The S-E-S carries out hazardous goods packaging in accordance with national and international regulations for land, air and sea transport on the basis of the applicable GGVS (ADR), IATA-DGR, GGVE (RID) and THE GGVSee (IMDG).

Packaging in type-tested dangerous goods packaging materials:

  • Wooden crates (4D)
  • Corrugated cardboard (4G)
  • Steel containers (1A1 and 1A2)
  • Plastic containers (3H1 and 3H2)

Each packaging is provided with the specified, mode-specific hazard markings and labels in accordance with the regulations. The dangerous goods documents required for transport are supplied during transport or handed over directly to you.
